The Award Boards, As Our Scores See Them
Our MVP, Cy Young and Rookie Scores — who leads each race, and by how much.
It's midsummer, which means it's time to check the leaderboards that matter most. These are our 0-100 award Scores, and right now Yordan Alvarez and Jacob Misiorowski are running away from their fields. A few of the races, though, are anything but settled.
MVP watch
Our MVP Score (0–100) — each hitter’s OPS, on-base, power, run production and playing time graded against the league average, then blended. Higher is better.
Alvarez tops the AL board at 85.3, a .318 average and 31 homers backing up the best bat on the Astros, with Ben Rice (81.3) closing the gap on the back of a first-base spot the Yankees have gotten .723 from in recent years. In the NL it's James Wood at 82.9, a .985 OPS for Washington that dwarfs the club's prior right-field production, holding off Juan Soto (78.5) and Schwarber (77.8).

Cy Young watch
Our Cy Young Score (0–100) — ERA, WHIP, strikeout and walk rates, workload and quality starts, each graded against the league average, then blended. Higher is better.
Misiorowski's 89.2 is the loudest number on any board: a 1.62 ERA, a 0.76 WHIP and 167 strikeouts leave the NL race a formality, with Chris Sale (76.6) the distant runner-up. The AL is tighter at the top only because Cam Schlittler sits at 83.2 on a 2.05 ERA, but Joe Ryan (71.7) and Sonny Gray (70.5) are bunched well behind him.
