Alonso's Four-Homer Week, and a Few Cold Spells

SEPTEMBER 25, 2026

Who climbed and who cooled over the past week.

The week's climbers hit, and the fallers mostly went quiet at the plate. Pete Alonso homered four times to reach 40, while a couple of good bats slipped a few points. Nobody's arm lost ground, which is what late September looks like.

Hot at the plate

The week's hottest hitters — top OPS over the last 7 days (min at-bats), with their game line.

Angel Martínez had the loudest bat of the week, 8-for-17 with three homers for a 1.589 OPS, just ahead of Zack Gelof's four-homer, eight-RBI stretch in Oakland. Mookie Betts and Will Smith both scorched it for the Dodgers.

Cooling off

Hitters whose bat cooled most this week — shown with their 7-day line.

The cold spells were modest: Luis García Jr. went 2-for-19 over five games and Jordan Walker 2-for-22, each shaving about twenty points of season OPS. Small dents, not slides.

Changing colors

Players who moved up or down a tier on our scale this week.

One tier move worth noting: James Wood dropped from elite to above-average, the lone recolor on the board this week.
