Cleveland and Chicago Barge Into the Top Ten

SEPTEMBER 27, 2026

A quick lap of the standings, offenses and pitching staffs.

The playoff picture up top is settled, but the middle of our power ranking had a loud week. The Guardians and White Sox each won five and six games' worth of ground, respectively, and shoved their way up the board. Milwaukee, meanwhile, hasn't budged from first for a reason.

Power Rankings

Power ranking — record, run differential and recent form, blended into one order. Tap a team for its week.

The Brewers held the top spot at 102-59, going 5-1 behind Brice Turang's two homers and six RBI. The real climbers were the Guardians, up six spots to third after a 5-1 week and a plus-11 run differential, and the White Sox, up seven to eighth on a plus-19 week powered by Chase Meidroth's 1.470 stretch.

Best offenses

Team OPS — on-base plus slugging. Higher is better.

The Cubs edge the Dodgers for the top team OPS at .765 to .763, a gap too thin to argue about; both leave everyone else behind. Milwaukee sits third at .744, a nice pairing with the best record in the game.

Best rotation

Starting rotation ERA — starters only. Lower is better.
