Rays Hold, But the West Coast Is Buzzing

AUGUST 17, 2026

Our team power ranking — record, run differential and recent form in one order.

Tampa Bay is still on top at 74-49, though a 3-3 week means they held serve rather than pulled away. The real motion came behind them, where the Dodgers and Padres both surged. Milwaukee still owns the best record at 77-48, even after a losing week.

Power Rankings

Power ranking — record, run differential and recent form, blended into one order. Tap a team for its week.

The Rays stayed first behind a steady week from Taylor Walls, who went 7-for-21 with two homers, but nobody moved like the Dodgers, up seven spots to fourth on a 4-3 week with Mookie Betts (8-for-24, two homers) leading the charge. The Padres deserve the loudest cheer, though: 5-1 with a plus-13 run differential, powered by Luis Campusano's absurd seven-RBI week and Xander Bogaerts' two homers. The Cardinals were quietly the week's best story too, jumping six spots after going 4-2 while Alec Burleson drove in twelve.
