The Cardinals Crash the Party Out West

JULY 5, 2026

A quick lap of the standings, offenses and pitching staffs.

The Dodgers still sit on top, but the loudest movement this week came from St. Louis, which jumped 13 spots in our power ranking. Tampa Bay is climbing too, riding a red-hot Junior Caminero. Here's the shape of the league at the moment.

Power Rankings

Power ranking — record, run differential and recent form, blended into one order. Tap a team for its week.

Los Angeles held first at 59-31 behind a 6-1 week, capped by seven shutout innings and ten strikeouts from Yoshinobu Yamamoto. The real jolt was St. Louis, up 13 spots after going 5-1 with a plus-24 run differential and two wins from Kyle Leahy; Tampa Bay rose three on the back of Caminero's five-homer week.

Best offenses

Team OPS — on-base plus slugging. Higher is better.

The Dodgers lead the team-OPS board at .791, a step clear of the Pirates at .760. Colorado and Washington sit close behind, proof that a thin record doesn't always mean a quiet lineup.

Best rotation

Starting rotation ERA — starters only. Lower is better.
