Alvarez Leads The Bats, Contreras Crashes The Top

JUNE 17, 2026

The league's hottest offenses and hitters, by OPS and home runs.

It's a hitting day, and Houston's Yordan Alvarez is out in front of everyone at the plate. Behind him, a few new faces are climbing into the conversation. Plenty of homers changed hands this week too.

Best offenses

Team OPS — on-base plus slugging. Higher is better.

The Dodgers top the team OPS ranking at .786, with the Yankees close behind at .775. The surprise of the group is Pittsburgh, sitting fourth at .745 with the Athletics and Nationals packed around them.

Swinging a green bat

Hitters at .900+ OPS — elite (green). A shimmer means a historic pace (1.000+).

Climbing the home-run ladder

Most home runs added this week.

Five sluggers added three homers apiece, but Byron Buxton's stand out: a pair in St. Louis and one against Texas to reach 23. Shohei Ohtani spread his three across Pittsburgh, the White Sox and Tampa Bay to get to 15.
